Spring brings a lot of good things with it – sunny weather, Easter, spring fashion, vacation time, etc. But it also signals a time when we should be making changes. That’s right, it is time to start thinking about spring cleaning. We don’t like it anymore than you do, but spring cleaning is important for many reasons. To help you overcome this task, we’ve put together a few easy tips to follow:
- Make a Schedule – The best places to start are the ones that need the most work. Take a look at your house, apartment, studio, etc. Have a plan for when you’re going to tackle every room so you don’t get overwhelmed.
- De-clutter – Studies have shown that a disorganized home can add to your stress level and can have psychological effects. Throw out or donate things you haven’t worn in years, appliances you don’t use, etc. You’ll be surprised how good it feels to have a clean and decluttered space.
- Start from Top to Bottom – Don’t forget to clean your ceilings first! That way all the dust and debris will fall down and you will clean it once you make your way to the floors. This will help you from having to re-dust or re-clean.
- Think green when you’re cleaning – Don’t expose yourself to harmful chemicals and toxins. Use a steam cleaner to o clean your microwave, tile, hard floors, kitchen appliances, bathrooms, etc. If you don’t have a steam cleaner, one of the best natural combinations for cleaning is white distilled vinegar, baking soda, and water. These ingredients are affordable, non-toxic, and have worked for ages when it comes to cleaning.
