While browsing Instagram over the weekend I stumbled across a post from Forever 21 ( yes! I still shop there, don’t judge ) and it said something along the lines of; August is the Sunday of summer. I couldn’t agree more! I adore August, mostly because it’s my birthday month and it’s usually filled with loads of fun things. But, it’s definitely the last call for summer and it’s a bitter sweet month.
Like I said, it’s my birthday month ( for those of you that are nosy, I’ll be turning 29 ) so we’ll be partying it up. August parties usually mean tropical + frozen drinks and you can’t serve one without a festive umbrella. Don’t get me wrong, I love the little cheesy pop up ones you can grab from the dollar store — but making your own is just too rad.
We made these with our most popular color ways in mind ( Bright + Poolside ), but they’d look great in any piña colada or rum runner.
DIY Drink Umbrellas
Printed .pdf Bright / Poolside, scissors, bamboo skewers, glue stick and glue gun
Step 1: Cut out printed shapes, including slit.
Step 2: place strip of glue on right side of slit & place opposite side of slit on top. Press firmly until glue adheres.
Step 3: Place dot of hot glue at the center of the underneath portion of your umbrella and adhere blunt end of bamboo skewer. *tip – angle ‘umbrella’ on bamboo skewer for a more whimsical look.

How fun! Those would look extra festive in say, a cold glass of lemonade? 😉 Happy (early) Birthday!
