I really enjoy entertaining outdoors, especially during the summer months when it stays light outside so much longer. It is the perfect excuse to get guests over for tasty grilled food and a cold crisp Sauvignon Blanc. I’m always exploring new ways to jazz up existing serving items. This Chalkboard flatware – DIY is the perfect example of re purposing existing items. I used back up flatware – flatware that we keep on hand if there needs to be place settings for more than four people. This flatware was something I picked up in the dollar bin at my local old time pottery, but I’ve heard that other big box stores offer the same type of deal. These bargain sets of flatware are perfect for DIY projects because you aren’t forking out a lot of money or ruining your good stuff!
Supplies:
Chalkboard Paint
Sets of Flatware
Chalk marker for guests names
Step 1 : Dip ends of flatware into cup of calk board paint. You may need to transfer chalkboard paint into a taller vessel to ensure the entire length of flatware is coated in the chalk board paint.
Step 2: Allow ends to dry completely ( I suspended mine off the edge of my counter by placing a weight on the end that wasn’t painted. ) Then write guests names with chalk marker.
I love the napkin know technique. It worked really well with this chalkboard flatware diy!
