Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, we’re wasting no time before we dive into Christmas ideas! I myself tend to stray from traditional red & green decor because I like so many other colors and there is no rule saying your holiday decor needs to be specific colors. I do however enjoy a little tartan, which is a traditional Christmas pattern. I took this tartan pattern and recreated it in bunting form using washi tape. If you’ve followed along here for a while, you know I love using washi tape for buntings & swizzle sticks.
I chose to keep the cardstock in standard block shape, but this would look gorgeous as a flag, scallop or pennant too!
DIY Christmas Tartan Bunting
Step 1: Gather supplies. Cardstock, washi tape, hole punch & twine for haning.
Step 2: Place 4 pieces of tape creating a grid pattern as shown below. I recommend using your darkest color here.
Step 3: Place 1 piece of skinny washi tape directly in the middle.
Step 4: Place pieces of skinny tape in the middle of your darker colors as shown below.
Step 5: Hole punch corners of each cardstock block.
Step 6: Thread twine & hang.
