DIY Vanilla Spice Coffee Creamer

I know people are going ape for the pumpkin spice since it’s been reintroduced to the Starbucks menu, but not everyone shares the enthusiasm. Crazy, I know. Some people don’t like the pumpkin part – so fortunately there is an alternative and it’s called vanilla spice. A little spicy, a little sweet and 100% pumpkin free. I wanted to offer my lady friends an enjoyable at home coffee date and thought it’d be the perfect time to try my hand at making my own creamer, perhaps vanilla spice – and wow! I may never buy pre-flavored creamer again. The homemade version is sweet and fresh. There aren’t any preservatives or fillers and you can tell.

You’ll need 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 cup water, 1 tablespoon mulling spices ( the chunky kind – not the fine grain sweetened sugary kind ) , 1 cup organic half and half. Add your water, sugar and mulling spice to a 1 quart pan and simmer until sugar is thoroughly dissolved. Turn heat off, mix in half and half. Then using a fine sifter, strain the half and half into a glass jar that has a lid and chill completely before serving
